A 4 Week Class Exploring The Fundamentals Of Oil Painting
Each week we will paint from life focusing on one of the 4 essential skills needed for painting with oils. By the end of this course students will have created a dynamic, fresh, and personal still life.
Week 1: Discover how to use value structures to create form.
Week 2: Learn the basics of color and mixing harmonious color.
Week 3: How to create texture with paint and manipulation of edges.
Week 4: Students will create a dynamic, fresh, and personal still life.

Feeling Frustrated With The Painting Process ?
If you often feel stuck and unsure of how proceed with a painting, then Open Oil Studio is for you. Students are can work at their own pace to learn how to "see" and "think" like an artist. Students can bring in their own projects or choose to paint from a still life that is design to develop the fundamental skills used in oil painting. Mike Wise will share techniques and art theory, to develop your ability to "see" like an artist, learning how to embrace simplicity, and letting go of overthinking the painting process. As you learn to trust your instincts, you will gain clarity and confidence through the entire artistic process—from your first tentative brushstrokes to the final flourishing marks.
